Resources

Hey There,
Below you will find a list that covers many different aspects of navigating the digital world.
Have a look around, get to know the digital world, hone your skills as a digital citizen, and most of all, have fun!

1. Google search - The most basic aspect of the digital world, a search engine. Here you can search anything your wildest dreams can imagine (all of it is on the Internet). Just type anything in the search bar and off you go

2. YouTube - Arguably the most well-known website on the Internet, YouTube is a video creating and sharing platform that is a brilliant way to get to know how to utilize the digital world.

3. Microsoft Word - Microsoft Word is a word processing program that is not Internet-based. A similar program is Google Docs, but I prefer Microsoft Word because you can do work offline whereas Google Docs is entirely internet-reliable.

4. Facebook/Twitter- I could not decide here, but both of these are what is known as social media platforms. Here you can share your ideas, thoughts, pictures, or just silly things for anyone you are friends with to see. They can be slightly difficult to navigate for first-timers, but just play around with it a little bit and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

5. Cool Math - If you're a teacher, parent, or just someone struggling with basic math, this website is right for you! It teaches you the basics of math while allowing you to play interactive online games, furthering your knowledge and navigation ability of the digital world not just in math, but in all aspect of utilizing new and different websites.

6. Adobe Photoshop - Adobe Photoshop is an image altering software that allows anyone to alter, add, or fix an image of their choice. A non-internet based program, Adobe Photoshop allows people to change entire backgrounds of where they are in an image. As well, you can take images from the internet and alter it to make it your own. A complex aspect of the digital world for sure, but if you play around with it a bit (maybe use the second link and watch a YouTube video about how to use it), it can become very simple to use.

These six resources are a wonderful way to become acquainted with the digital world. From the basic usage of platforms like Google Search and YouTube to having to analyze and navigate the digital world with Facebook, Twitter, and Cool Math, to creating your very own aspect of the digital world with Adobe Photoshop, these resources can help get you started in almost all facets of the digital world.
